NCEES FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Exam

The FE exam is the official first step toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, designed for students close to graduation and recent grads. It's a computer-based exam offered year-round at Pearson test centers; the exam fee is $225, paid directly to NCEES. NCEES publishes the official FE Reference Handbook, which you can download free from your MyNCEES account (the same reference used during the exam). Official NCEES practice exams are sold separately for a fee.

Who qualifies: Students close to finishing (or graduates of) an EAC/ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program. Some states allow earlier eligibility; register through your NCEES account (state-specific rules may apply).
